I am a writer,
I am God,
I am Satan.
I am a writer,
I am a mother,
I am a murderer,
I am insane.

I am a writer,
I do what I want,
Your opinion means nothing,
It’s my world only.
I am a writer,
So what if I killed him,
He’s not even real,
Get a life.

I am a writer,
I have my own ideas,
I have an opinion.
I won’t turn my stories in to crap,
So you’ll enjoy them.
I won’t put your ideas in my novel,
So you can feel special.
I am a writer,
This is my story,
Write your own.

I know this may not be 100% clear, so basically the thing that inspires me to write freedom. I don't have to use people's ideas if I don't want to and the worlds I create are mine alone, this poem says that, only in a poetic way.

ERGH! You have no idea how much this hits home for me! (Well, being a writer, you probably do :giggle:)

So many times, I've had people on my back saying "Oh, can you put my OC in this story?" "I think you shoudl do this," "Oh no, MY OC is soooo much better, I'll send you the info, my OC NEEDS to be in this fic..."

newsflash: I am not here to please you! Pleasing everyone is pointless! Go and get a life!!

*fume* sorry for the rant, thank you for this

Its okay, I feel the same way. It annoys me when people think that I'd love to turn there ideas into a story for free, or ruin a current story I worked hard on with some crappy idea.

Exactly! And I get that some people feel they 'can't' write, but honestly, give it a go yourself, y'know? I think they'd be surprised

I must say, writing what you feel and telling the world that you don't care, is a very inspiring and amazing. Keep it up, and don't let others tell YOU who you should be, because I see that you know very well, who you want to be, in this life :) Good job.

I've always hated these passive-aggressive stories about what it means to be a creator. It's like saying 'I am a master and I can't take any alternate opinions or criticisms!'. I'm certain that wasn't the intention, I get it's more aggression to people forcing their ideas down you because you're a creator, but it always sounds so high and mighty it's painful to listen to. It's more groan worthy to listen to writers call themselves 'God', I'm more for the thought that writing is a flow; Characters are God's of their lives, sort of concept.
None of my personal opinions on writing is really criticism to your poem, though. My issue with this poem is even more petty, haha. I just find it needlessly repetitive and vague. It's not personal, it feels like anyone's thrown away idea, actually. I also feel it's too forward, it doesn't have any sense of leading on. You're just telling.
In many ways, I can respect the attitude of "I won't change for anyone," but in many more ways I support a less stubborn approach to creating. I empathize with your frustration, not so much this poem.
(Although, on a side note, the "Get a life" line made me giggle. People take fictional deaths way too personally, huh?)

Thanks, and it fine if you think my poem is too repetitive, everyone is entitled to an opinion here. I just wrote this as sort of a rant about how I hate when people tell me how to write my stories.

very true and beautiful, I especially like the ideas of writers as gods, for we truly are, gods and demons of our own worlds. perhaps we are all just the creation of a madmans mind lol. very good work, please write more.

That's a pretty interesting philosophy. Sometimes I wonder if my life is actually real, or if I'm in a comma in some very bad world so my mind created this place so I would be happy.
Anyway, thanks for the review.

Solipsism! Sort-of. But it could be asked: is anything real?

I am seriously questioning my existence. I mean, characters in novels don't know that they're fake, sims don't know that they are fake. If we were fake we wouldn't know it. OMG, I just broke the forth wall!

Fourth Wall is down? Alex Jones is unimpressed. That means the Germanic Death Cults are on their way. I better get ready for the Mothership to beam me off to Atlantis.

Right.

You should study Descartes, Leibniz and Berkeley. They have interesting takes on the question of reality. I tend to like Berkeley's idea that there are two forces: Spirit and Mater (crudely interpreted) and that the physical matrix of reality is technically illusory, overarched by the spiritual. Leibniz taught that the physical universe is actually one organism wherein different spiritual essences (Monads) are caught. Descartes wanted to revolutionise thought, by teaching us to question everything. He actually began by trying to prove whether or not he existed. In the end, he was convinced he did. You know, because:

"Cogito Ergo Sum."

Yes, I hate in when people tell me, "Oh you should *Insert crappy idea probably involving vampires* because I would like it better." I swear, people annoy me so much sometimes. I bet when Harry Potter was still in the making, people were trying to get J. K. Rowling to put their OC's in the book. If you want to see your ideas in a story, just write it yourself. I have no problem when people ask me to write them a One-shot, but when they want me to ruin a story that I've written a bunch of chapters for already, thats where I draw the line.

Exactly, its hard trying to explain this to people who just draw, or just don't write who ask me to change my story for them. If I add a character to my story, even for just one chapter, I have to write what happened to them (its kinda awkward when a character disapears, and others don't question it). With a drawing, you can just draw a piture of the two characters together, but with a long story, its differnt. I alsohate it when people think writing is a millon times easyer than drawing. Anyone who writes knows where I'm coming from.

Sorry if my rant annoys anyone, or offends anyone who draws. I consider writing, drawing, and digital art all hard if you make it good.
